******NEW QUALIFIERS FOR 2018*******
THIS YEAR WE HAVE SOME NEW QUALIFIERS, SO ALONG WITH OUR EXISTING ONES THERE ARE 8 SOCIETY QUALIFIERS TO COMPETE IN. THERE ARE:
The Showing Register (TSR) , Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA)including new 2018 Part Bred Class, Northern Counties Association (NCPA), The Royal London, Equifest, Veteran horse Society (VHS), 15 + Horse and Pony Events, CHAPS UK and ESUK (Equine Sports UK Grassroots Championships).
Please be aware that not all our shows are qualifying shows for every society so remember to check our schedule for details.
So here or our show dates for 2018:
24th June (Sash Show)
26th August ( Pauline Walker Memorial Show)
23rd September (Annual Double Points Show)
We have this year had to male a small increase to our class prices, this is solely due to the rising cost of our outgoings in order to run our shows , things like rosettes, judge and steward fees, admin costs etc. We have tried to make this rise as small as possible as we are a grassroots family based club and realise that the economic climate makes luxuries like horses and competing more and more difficult to juggle. So the rise is just 50p a class, making Members price £5.50 a class and Non Members £6.50 a class.
We have also made a change to the membership system and made it now a flat fee of £10.00 per person.
We hope you will understand our reasons for being forced to make these changes and hope you will continue to support our club.
THIS YEARS PRESENTATION EVENING IS ON SAT 27TH OCTOBER 2018 AT OUR USUAL VENUE, BRUNTCLIFFE WORKING MENS CLUB. DETAILS OF TICKET SALES WILL BE PROVIDED NEARER TO THE TIME.

Upper Batley Riding Club was established in 2007, when we identified that there was a distinct lack of local shows where people of all ages and abilities could be given a chance, and encouraged to participate, gain confidence, and achieve, without feeling intimidated. We as a club, pride ourselves on a warm friendly and welcoming atmosphere, whilst retaining professionalism. It is extremely rewarding for us as a club to see children and adults blossom and raise their self-esteem throughout the season.
We hold five shows each season, starting in May through to September, which include various qualifiers including Equifest, 15+, Grassroots and TSR, along with other events such as various clinics, showjumping, dressage competitions and car boot sales.
Every year our August show is very special, as it is the Pauline Walker Memorial Children’s Show. We at Upper Batley Riding Club host this special day in memory of local resident, the late Mrs Pauline Walker. We try to make it a special day by ensuring that every child that enters regardless of age, ability, background etc. leaves with a prize. This we feel, as Pauline did, encourages the children to pursue their ambitions and dreams and also shows them that everyone should be treated equally whatever their background. They each, throughout the course of the day, receive a golden envelope which invites them to enter the Children’s Supreme Championship at the end of the show. Last year we had over 70 children in this Championship.
The first year we held this show we needed just 12 prizes, however, it has grown and grown over the years and last year we needed 80 prizes! We were so lucky in achieving this goal only due to the generosity of local businesses. I am sure you will agree this is a mountainous task for the club to achieve
We will once again this year strive to make this show bigger and better !!
Here are a few photos from last season!
