Batley Hall Farm Riding Centre is now in its 5th year of business and we are happy to report that our client base continues to grow and grow.

We open Thursday to Sunday and lessons are bookable either by telephone or in person. We have registration forms that have to be filled in by each client for insurance purposes. A copy of one of these forms is available to download on our Home tab.

We have 2 Instructors who both specialise in their individual areas. One has a keen and passionate interest in starting children from the very first lesson and enjoys getting them to the ‘off the lead rein ‘stage when they then begin to turn in to real independent little riders. She also runs the Pony Club sessions and works hard to bring children, of sometimes mixed abilities, up to the same level.

Our other Instructor has a real interest in working with riders who, because of one reason or another, have lost confidence in the saddle at some point. She very much believes that we should all take more time to ‘think like a horse’ and try to draw sense from that when trying to deal with horse behaviour. She also works hard to instill confidence in her pupils and develop their self belief.

Batley Hall Farm Riding Centre is also a registered ‘Pony Club’ centre, and we run 2 sessions a week on a Thursday evening (for the more advanced riders), and a Saturday morning for the younger riders. Each session is for an hour and a half and involves both theory and riding sessions. The children work towards badges and certificates as they progress. More information on ‘The Pony Club’ can be found on their website www.ponyclub.org uk

We have safe and sensible horses and ponies that work in this family run riding centre. We aim to try to keep the informal feel of a small school, but do not compromise on the quality and content of our lessons.

We also run ‘Pony Parties’ for that special day whether it be a birthday or special treat etc. These parties are great fun and are becoming more and more popular with clients returning year after year and passing their experiences to friends and family. Parties are for 2 hours and involve a Health & Safety talk for both children and adults attending, Pony Blinging !!, which is jazzing up some of our ponies with glitter paint, stickers, ribbons etc., then its up to the outdoor arena for fun with mounted pony games like Bean Bag, Egg and Spoon, Apple Bobbing, Pin the tail on the Donkey, and lots more. Finally after a good old hand wash, its time for a birthday tea party with games a plenty!

I would recommend Batley hall farm riding centre to anyone wanting a pony party . All the staff were absolutely lovely with the girls and rather than just walking with the ponies they played games for the whole time – even an egg and spoon race on horseback !!! The girls got to dress the ponies up and plait their manes and the centre even provided the party food complete with home made pony biscuits !!! I certainly didn’t expect to get the big personalised rosette for Niamh at the end either !! Well worth booking x

We also run school holiday club days. These involve the children coming between 10am and 3pm with a packed lunch. The days’ activities include mucking out, grooming, horse care and management etc. then lunch before tacking up the ponies and riding. Often these days coincide with public holidays and other celebration days such as Easter, Halloween and Xmas so we try to ‘theme’ them with competitions or even sometimes shows with Rosettes and Prizes.

So, whether its a little one (or a big one!) starting out, or someone ‘retaking the reins’ after a break  or even a ‘Bucket List’ client, we can cater for everyone. We strive to keep our school a low key, friendly, happy and confidence building place to be, and welcome any one that may just want to come and have a look round to see if its for them or not.
